Online is where the action is

On the weekend I explored some of the events and exhibitions for Unlimited: Designing for the Asia Pacific for an initiative 'to promote the value of design thinking in shaping a positive future for the Asia Pacific region' between 4 and 10 October. Some of those events are physical as well as online experiences. That is not unusual these days. What struck me, though, was the lack of information on some of the banners, postcards and other printed material--sometimes not even showing dates or what it was about, but all the promotional material did have a website address (unlimitedap.com). It is interesting to reflect on how we have come to the point where our printed communication is secondary to the website. Have we reached that point in the technical communication field?
